Welcome to Chesapeake Bay Watercolorists!
Since about 1980, a group of artists from beginner through very experienced professional have been painting using watercolor at the Bow Creek Recreation Center. Each Wednesday we had an "open workshop" during which each benefited through critiques by the other members of the group. We formed CBW in 1982 and are open to all watercolorists in the area interested in our aims:

* To share ideas and information
* To encourage the development of our individual artistic abilities, regardless of skill level, and
our professional skills, through such activates as programs, trips, critiques, workshops, etc.
* To support and encourage other activities and organizations which promote the appreciation and recognition of watercolor painting.

We had a booth at a local church Flea Market to make the funds necessary to start the group. Barbara Preston did a demo and raffled 2 pictures. We set our dues at $10.00 and the year ran from September to September. Each months programs included critiques and a demonstration provided by an area artist that would be of benefit to both the beginner as well as the more experienced artist. We continue to keep the dues at a minimum.

Each of us has worked hard to get to this point and we always feel that the guild is a 'work in progress'. We welcome all new members and look forward to meeting you soon. We are currently meeting at the Kempsville Public Library on the first Sunday of the month. We do not meet over the summer months and will reconvene in September.
